Lost Connections by Johann Hari

Next month's choice is Lost Connections by Johann Hari (reviewed for example in the Guardian)

Chapter 22 includes a good account of the 1970s Canadian gov UBI experiment in Dauphin, Manitoba, telling of its positive outcomes for mental health.

Big Pharma

Here are links to short (under 10 mins) YouTube clips by Danish MD, Peter C. Gøtsche, on depression in particular, the drug industry in general and the interests of the big pharmaceutical companies. He is leader of the Nordic Cochrane Center at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark.
PS. 8 May meeting was on genetic engineering and The Case Against Perfection by Michael Sandel.
